All new students who have never attended college are asked to meet with an Academic Advisor to discuss a degree plan, test results, course selection, and any other questions about college. New Alvin Community College students who have attended college elsewhere are encouraged to meet with an Academic Advisor, but it is not required.
- Take the TSI Assessment.
- Have transcripts sent to the Admissions Office from all former schools and colleges. If you completed a GED, fill out a transcript form in the ESC.
- Meet with an advisor or counselor in Advising Services. Appointments are not required. Bring your test scores, transcript(s), and/or transcript evaluation.
General Studies Students
The ACC Advising Program is for our students who have completed at least 30 credit hours and are enrolled in the General Studies program. The Advising Program is part of a state mandated requirement to guide students with their remaining credit hours, and assist with transfer guidelines to a university.
Students are required to attend only one group advising session. A hold will be placed on your account until the session is complete. If you are unable to make one of the session meeting times, please see an Academic Adviser. [Register for your Group Advising Session Here]
