BOND 2016

BOND Election 2016

Proposed ACC Bond Projects

Land acquisition and new building on west side of taxing district. New facility, with land sized to accommodate current “first” building and future expansion, will be located on the west side of the college’s taxing district near the 288 corridor. Initial building will include classrooms, labs, registration, counseling and administration.

Student Center renovations and the creation of additional student work spaces across campus.

New Technical Education Building on Alvin Campus. The facility could include space for existing programs such as welding, pipe fitting, industrial design and more. The college will also consider adding new programs such as Supply Chain Management, Engineering and more.

Building systems upgrades on Alvin Campus, including replacement of aging mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. New systems will be per current codes, including energy efficiency. Also included will be improvements to security systems, specifically card access and emergency contact stations.

Renovations to classrooms on Alvin Campus, including size/layout changes, furniture upgrades, and technology upgrades, to meet the needs of current teaching methods and modern learning styles. This will also improve utilization and make scheduling more efficient.

Additions on Alvin Campus to support growing Culinary Arts program. Currently ACC is only able to offer an evening program due to limited space.

How would this election affect my taxes?

Approval of the bond election would lead to an increase on the interest and sinking (I&S) portion of the tax rate of approximately 6.99 cents per $100 of property value. The increase would be $10.20 per month or $122 a year for the average ACC home value of $175,000.

What if I am a senior citizen, 65 years or older?

ACC offers a $75,000 tax exemption on the property values for those 65 or older (or the disabled). For the average homeowner 65 and older or disabled, the bond would mean a $5.83 per month increase or $69.96 per year.
