CNC Machine Shop Immersion Classes

This course is designed to simulate a real shop environment and experience in a fully functioning machine shop with the opportunity to be exposed to all aspects of a manufacturing facility to include: CAD design and code development using computer software; set-up and operation of Haas CNC mills and lathes as well as manual lathes and mills, also fixture design and development, cost estimating, inspection, and quality control. The student will be able to use various inspection equipment, calibrate cutting tools and set zero positions, read multiple styles of indicators and indicate a part in a 4-jaw chuck.  COURSE REQUIREMENTS: Minimum age of 18 years.

Introduction To Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM)

We have the latest version of Master-cam X8

This course includes an in depth breakdown of the common G and M codes that are used to control CNC machines and a study of the proper use of them. An introduction to Computer-Aided Manufacturing software  which is used to develop programs for manufacturing. Emphasis on tool geometry, tool selection and the tool library. PREREQUISITES: Minimum of 1 year experience running a machine or have taken two Immersion program classes.

Graphic Design with CorelDRAW

Students will gain hands-on experience with basic graphic design using CorelDRAW-X7 with an emphasis towards commercial application and its use driving a laser or printer.  End-of-course outcome: Identify terminology, advantages and limitations of vector software, use vector drawing tools to manipulate, create, and edit vector drawings for print media or laser format. Prerequisite:  Experience with a Windows based computer system.

Fundamentals of Laser Ops

Students will gain hands-on experience with basic set-up and operation with an emphasis on safety, material removal, cutting processes and design creation using CorelDRAW X7. End-of-course outcome: Learn to safely set-up and operate an Epilog Helix C02 Laser System on multiple mediums including wood, stone, coated metal, acrylic, and others. Prerequisite: Experience with CorelDRAW or similar graphic software.
