Learn the Skills Needed to Get a Job and Launch a Career as a Machinist

From manual milling and turning, to CNC skills - students will gain hands-on experience in our state-of-the-art machine shop and CNC simulator labs. Students will be trained with the necessary skills to enter the workforce.

Machine Shop Immersion Classes
This course is designed to simulate a real shop environment and experience in a fully functioning machine shop with the opportunity to be exposed to all aspects of a manufacturing facility to include: CAD design and code development using computer software; set-up and operation of Haas CNC mills and lathes as well as manual lathes and mills, also fixture design and development, cost estimating, inspection, and quality control. The student will be able to use various inspection equipment, calibrate cutting tools and set zero positions, read multiple styles of indicators and indicate a part in a 4-jaw chuck. 
COURSE REQUIREMENTS: Minimum age of 18 years.

Basic Millwright   NEW COURSE!
An introduction to the many different skills in the millwright trade.  Identify and use basic hand and power tools and review various fasteners.  Discuss common blueprint symbols and demonstrate different layout techniques.  Discuss and demonstrate the safe use of manual lathes and mills and basic cutting concepts and techniques.  Identify and demonstrate the use of various indicators for the purpose of aligning parts to machine.  This course follows the National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCEER) and prepares students for level 1 testing.
Requirement:  Students must complete the Fabrication Safety Training class prior to enrolling in Basic Millwright.

Fabrication Safety Course   NEW COURSE!
The National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER) Core Curriculum explains the importance of safety in the construction and industrial crafts.  Trainees will learn how to identify and follow safe work practices and procedures and how to properly inspect and use safety equipment.  Trainees will be able to describe the safety practices associated with elevated work, energy release, and various hazards encountered on job sites.  Upon the successful completion of this NCCER module, trainees will be awarded a Construction Site Safety Orientation credential.  This course is required for students who wish to enroll in the Basic Millwright course.

Fundamentals of Laser Ops 
Students will gain hands-on experience with basic set-up and operation with an emphasis on safety, material removal, cutting processes and design creation using CorelDRAW X7. End-of-course outcome: Learn to safely set-up and operate an Epilog Helix C02 Laser System on multiple mediums including wood, stone, coated metal, acrylic, and others. Prerequisite: Experience with CorelDRAW or similar graphic software.
