This six-week class is designed for adults with special needs. Topics may include cooking, arts and crafts, exercise, board games, basic life-skills training and social interaction. Each six weeks focuses on a new topic.

Scuba Diving

Ages 12 & up

Designed as an introduction to the world of scuba diving, this course is for ages 12 and up. Lecture and pool presentations will teach the student to safely enjoy the underwater world using Scuba equipment. At the end of the course, the student will attend the Open Water Dives, which will lead to Scuba certification. The course will be conducted according to the guidelines set forth by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors(PADI). PADI is the largest and best recognized Scuba certification in the world.

Required Materials: The student will be given more information on how to purchase the required material (Book Kit and personal gear-mask, snorkel, fins) on the first day of class. We do not recommend that you purchase these materials prior to the first day of class. Students must provide two passport size photos

Mondays - Lecture at ACC, 3110 Mustang Road, Alvin, TX 77511 Room-TBA
The student is required to score a 75 or higher on all quizzes and exams.  Make-up tests will be offered for those scoring less than a 75.

Wednesdays - Pool Sessions- William H Pool, 15000 Conn St, Webster, TX 77598

Open Water Dives: Dates to be determined, but will be on a weekend.

Students are responsible for the park admittance fees for the Open Water Dives. These fees are not included in the total class registration fee paid to ACC.

The student will be responsible for picking up their rental gear for the pool and Open Water dives and for returning that gear to the facility (Sport Divers of Houston Inc., 20710 Gulf Freeway #50, in Webster).

The gear rental and certification fees are included in the class cost.
