Programmers also work for firms that provide engineering and management services, telecommunication companies, manufacturers of computer and office equipment, financial institutions, insurance carriers, health care organizations, education institutions, and government agencies.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor the computer service industry is expected to be the third fastest growing industry in the U.S. economy over the next decade. SalaryExpert.com reports the average salary for a computer programmer employed in the Houston, TX area is $65,402.
