TI-82 Entering Expressions

1. How do I add 2 + 2?

Press 2 + 2 --> ENTER .

2. How do I find 2²?

Press 2 --> x² --> ENTER .

3. How do I find 2³?

Press 2 --> MATH and select item #3 from the list. Now press ENTER twice.

4. How do I find 2⁴?

Press 2 ^ 4 --> ENTER .

5. How do I find 2^1/2?

Press 2 ^ ( 1 ÷ 2 ) --> ENTER .

6. How do I find ?

Press ( 2nd x² ) --> 2 --> ENTER .

7. How do I find ?

Press MATH , select item #4, and press ENTER . Now press 2 --> ENTER .

8. How do I find ?

Press 4 --> MATH , select item #5, and press ENTER . Now press 2 --> ENTER .

9. How do I enter -3 - 2?

Press (-) --> 3 - 2 --> ENTER .

10. How do I enter ?

Press ( 3 --> x² --> + 2 ) --> ÷ --> --> 5 --> ENTER .

11. How do I enter log(5)?

Press LOG --> 5 --> ENTER .

12. What does ANS ( 2nd --> (-) ) do?

Every time you press ENTER the result is stored in ANS . Try pressing 2 --> ENTER and then + 3 --> ENTER and see what happens!

13. What happens if I press ENTRY ( 2nd --> ENTER )?

Every time you press ENTRY , a previous expression is recalled to the Home screen. This allows you to easily edit the last expression you entered. Try evaluating 2 + 3, and then press
ENTRY and change the 3 to a 4.

14. What do DEL and INS do?

These keys allow you to easily edit expressions. DEL will delete a character and INS ( 2nd --> DEL ) will insert a character.
