Music

Introduction

Students have the opportunity to perform in major ensembles as well as study privately on the their particular instrument with a full-time music professional. Our music majors successfully transfer to major universities across the state of Texas and former ACC music majors currently teach and perform throughout the United States.

Scholarships

Scholarships are available for music majors and non-majors alike. Music majors can receive up to $350 per semester. Non-music majors can receive up to $100 per semester just for performing in one ensemble. This means you could get $100 for singing in the choir or playing in the band, and it is not necessary to have lots of experience.

Career Opportunities

Many opportunities are available for musicians. You can pursue a solo career in the classical, musical theatre, or pop genres; you can become a member of a performing ensemble like an opera chorus, or symphony orchestra; or you can freelance, taking gigs or doing session work for radio, TV, or film. You might also be interested in teaching music whether privately or in a school or college. Music teachers are now in great demand and schedules and salaries are highly competitive.
