Polysomnographic (PSG) Technology is
an allied health specialty for the diagnosis and treatment
of disorders of sleep and daytime alertness. The range
of sleep disorders is varied but includes narcolepsy,
sleep apnea, insomnias, and many others. PSG technologists
operate a variety of electronic monitoring devices
that record brain activity (EEG), muscle and eye movement,
respiration, and blood oxygen.
Technologists also help evaluate treatment methods.

PSG Technologists are employed in sleep disorder centers,
which can be located in medical centers, hospitals, or clinic/office
settings. In the Houston metro area, there are over 50 sleep disorder
centers, providing ample opportunity for new careers.
There is a tremendous shortage of well-trained
credentialed technologists to meet the growing needs
of sleep centers. The program is open to applicants
who have completed any health care program with an
Associate Degree.
