Employment of vocational nurses is expected to grow about as fast as the average for all occupations through 2010. This is in response to the long-term care needs of a rapidly growing population and the general growth of health care. The areas of employment that are expected to grow much faster than average include nursing homes, home health care, physician offices, ambulatory surgical centers and emergency medical centers. National median annual earnings of licensed vocational nurses range from $24,920 to $34,800 per year.
