All new students who have never attended college are asked to meet with an Academic Advisor to discuss a degree plan, test results, course selection, and any other questions about college. New Alvin Community College students who have attended college elsewhere are encouraged to meet with an Academic Advisor, but it is not required.
- Take the THEA or ACCUPLACER test, if required, or other state-approved Texas Success Initiative Assessment Test.
- Have transcripts sent to the Registrar's Office from all former schools and colleges. If you completed a GED, fill out a transcript form in the Admissions Office.
- Meet with an advisor or counselor in the Academic Advising Office. Appointments are not required. Bring your test scores, transcript(s), and/or transcript evaluation.
