The Child Development Laboratory School was created to provide training for Alvin Community College students majoring in Child Development and Early Childhood.
These students are under the guidance of the professional staff who plan and conduct the lab school programs. The lab school provides a model preschool education experience and care-giving setting for children ages 18 months to 6 years. The school is open year round and is a licensed facility with a maximum of 67 children. Students, employees, and the community are welcome to use the lab school services.

Sandra Horine, Department Chair and Lab School Director
Sandra Horine is Department Chair for the Child Development/Early Childhood Program. She has been with Alvin Community College since 1982. She was selected as 2003 Teacher Educator of the Year by the Texas Association for the Education of Young Children Association.
Ms. Horine is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the Texas Association for the Education of Young Children, the Gulf Coast Association for the Education of Young Children, the Texas Community College Child Development Educators' Association, and the Alvin chapter of the Soroptimists of America. She is a member of the advisory boards of Texas Head Start Collaboration Project, the Brazoria County Youth and Family Counseling Services. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree at North Texas University and her Master of Science Degree at the University of Houston at Clear Lake. Ms. Horine is the mother of two sons.
Patricia Dildy, Lab School Director and Faculty Member
Patricia Dildy is the Director and Lead Teacher of the Lab School and a faculty member in the Child Development/Early Childhood department. She has worked at ACC since 1990. Ms. Dildy earned the Associate in Applied Science degree in Child Development at ACC and the B.S. Degree in Early Childhood/Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Houston at Clear Lake. She is on the Advisory Board for the Hand in Hand Child Care Center. Ms. Dildy is the mother of one son.
