Alvin Community College is located in a suburban/rural community that provides a quiet and safe place to attend college. We are 30 miles from downtown Houston, and only a few miles from museums, beaches, NASA Johnson Space Center, and all the cultural amenities found in a metropolitan city.
The immediate area offers numerous apartments within walking distance from the college campus. The Advisor for International Students provides an apartment survey illustrating all the apartments in the area. We do not have student dormitories.
There are two major airports in the Houston area:
Bush Intercontinental Airport, located 1.5 hours from campus and Hobby Airport located one-half hour drive from campus. There are taxi services which provide transportation to the Alvin area. Most students use automobiles for transportation to and from the campus. Students who live close to the campus sometimes travel by bicycle or walk.
