ACC Hosts Empty Bowl Benefit

ACC Hosts Empty Bowl Benefit

ACC students, faculty and staff produced handmade pottery that were sold and auctioned off to members of the community during the event. Empty Bowls generated $10,500 to benefit Alvin Meals on Wheels.

“We had a great crowd with great support from the community,” said Andy Tacquard, Alvin Meals on Wheels president and an ACC regent. “We’re very pleased with the outcome.”

Last year’s event raised more than $6,000 for the program.

Alvin Meals on Wheels was started in 1975 and provides meals to more than 50 people throughout Alvin, Manvel and Liverpool. More than 200 volunteers currently assist in delivering the meals.

More than 300 bowls were created during a Throw-A-Thon on campus which were then distributed to participants who purchased tickets for the event.

Food was provided by several local restaurants including Olive Garden, Chili’s, The Caboose BBQ, Corey’s Kitchen, Gordon Street Tavern, Center Court Pizza and Brew, Juanita’s Taqueria and Blue Bell Ice Cream.
