ACC Student Advocates For Foster Care Education

Casey Bodine-Preston was recently named a national All-Star Intern for the Foster Club, a non-profit group that advocates for foster care children. He was among 25 students selected from more than 30,000 applicants, he said. Preston started at Alvin Community College in the fall.

ACC PTK Inducts New Members

When it comes to developing leadership skills, students must always keep in mind the important traits which, among others including inspiration, enabling others and encouragement, said Marilyn Dement, vice president of Student Services at Alvin Community College. Dement was the guest speaker during the November 10 induction ceremony for the newest members of the Mu Upsilon chapter of Phi Theta Kappa.

ACC Art Instructor's Work Makes State Tree

Every holiday season the officials in the state capitol hoist a 25-foot, Texas-grown Christmas tree in the House of Representatives Chamber.

The evergreen is adorned with ornaments from residents and artists throughout Texas.

Alvin Community College Painting and Drawing instructor Jennifer McClish was chosen by District 29 Representative Ed Thompson to paint an ornament that will now hang on the tree. The ornament will represent Texas District 29, where ACC is located.
