ACC Student Seeks to Help Those with Addiction After Conquering His Own

Locked in prison for the third time, Victor Gonzales struggled with figuring out the best way to overcome his addiction and legal troubles. He had been in an out of incarceration, his wife had passed away and he was beginning to think his children would grow up without their mother and father.

That was in 2007. Today, Gonzales, a veteran of the U.S. Marines, has not only remained clean of drugs, but since his release, he took courses in Human Services and Addiction Counseling at Alvin Community College and recently graduated with his Associate Degree. Today he is pursuing his Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work at the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
