Although kids will be out of class during the summer months, they still have opportunities to learn at the Alvin Community College Busy Bodies Kids’ College.
This summer’s camps will include topics such as engineering, creative writing and illustration and Lego construction. Registration for the camps is now open and will be open until five days prior to the start of the camp. ACC is closed on Fridays during the summer.
Kids’ College is open to kids between the ages of 5-13 years.
The first of the four-day camps begin on June 16 and they will continue throughout the summer.
The engineering camp will teach kids the aspects of creating things like automobiles, clocks, roller coasters and catapults. The camp will start June 23 at ACC at Turner College and Career High School.
Students who want to know more about the CSI Forensics can participate in the CSI camp, which covers DNA testing, fingerprint identification and suspect questioning. The Forensics camp begins on July 14 at ACC campus in Alvin.
There will be two writing and illustration camps for beginning and advanced students at the Turner campus. One beginner’s camp will be begin on June 16 while a more advanced writing and illustration camp will be hosted on June 23.
There will be several Lego camps including Mining & Crafting I & II and CHI Challenge that will help children learn the basic principles about engineering and architecture. A Lego camp will begin at the ACC campus on July 21. Camps at the Turner location will start on July 7, July 14 and July 28.
The costs for the courses range between $150 to $225.
