Requirements to become a Pharmacy Technician are:
- High School Diploma or GED
- No felonies in the last 5 years
- No drug charges

The program consists of online courses and hybrid courses. Lectures are online and labels are in the classroom in the evening. The last semester requires a Clinical Internship of 256 hours (which equates to 16-20 hours per week). Retail internship hours are required. You may complete all hours in Retail or 128 hours in a local hospital.
You have to be registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician in Training (they will perform a background check on you at this time). Requirements for hospital internships include negative drug test, CPR for Health Care Professionals, and updated vaccinations including a flu vaccine during flu season and a negative TB test.
