Massage Therapy

The massage therapy program is designed for students who plan to apply for the Texas State Massage Therapist exam and practice massage therapy professionally. This program includes a solid foundation in anatomy and physiology, health and hygiene, hydrotherapy, business practices, professional ethics, and Swedish massage techniques. Provides 450 hours of lecture/lab & 50 hours internship for preparation to take State Massage Therapy Registration Exam. TEXTBOOKS REQUIRED. Must provide own linens, supplies and uniforms. These things should not be purchased until after student attends class. $25.00 EACH HOUR FOR MAKE-UP HOURS FOR MISSING ANY LECTURE/LAB. HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED PREFERRED. COLLEGE ENTRANCE EXAM OR COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED. GENERAL PHYSICAL, LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION, SELF-EXPLORATION QUESTIONAIRE, ORIENTATION AND INTERVIEW REQUIRED. MALPRACTICE INSURANCE FEE INCLUDED IN TUITION. Instructor will inform you of supply charges. Internship tuition is an additional $375.00 and $40 lab fee and must be registered for upon successful completion of previous courses.

*Massage Therapy students must bring a course payment receipt to the library, Bldg A, to obtain a student I.D. card. The student services fee is payable to the Continuing Education Office and is
current for one academic semester.

EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 1, 2007
Texas HB 2644 to Change Massage Therapy Program Requirements. Due to the recent passing of Texas House Bill 2644 during the 80th Legislative Session, the state pre-licensing training requirements for becoming a massage therapist will increase from 300 hours to 500 hours effective on Sept. 1.
