Certified Nursing Assistant

A Great Place to Start Your Career in Health Care
Certified nursing assistants (CNAs) work with nursing personnel to provide care and tend to the needs of people of all ages. Working closely with nurses, CNAs provide hands-on-care for patients in hospitals and residents of long-term care facilities as well as home care, hospice, rehabs and many urgent care facilities like clinics and doctor’s offices. CNAs often assist with feeding, ambulating, bathing, hygiene and most all activities associated with daily living. In addition, they provide emotional and physical care by working closely with patients and their families. CNAs literally become a nurse’s helping hands and are a vital link to any health care team.

Certified Nursing Assistant

The state-approved ACC Continuing Education Workforce Development CNA class is 88 hours long and consists of three sections. The program exceeds all requirements established by the Texas Department of Aging and Disabilities. After completion of the program; graduates will demonstrate the skills and knowledge acquired, in a state-given, nationally-standardized exam. After successful completion of this exam, your name will be listed on the Texas State Registry for Certified Nurse Assistants.

Becoming a CNA prepares you for a fulfilling career as a health care provider and serves as a great entry-point into many careers in medicine including licensed vocational nurse or a registered nurse. Many people who complete the ACC CNA program, continue their medical training in one of the many allied health care training programs offered at ACC.
