Phlebotomy Technician

Start a Career in Health Care in as Little as One Semester
Working under the direct supervision of a certified medical technician, phlebotomy technicians (PBT) are integral members of any medical laboratory department.

Phlebotomy technicians collect blood samples, from both skin punctures and from veins, and transport specimens to the laboratory to ensure the stability of the sample.

While interacting with patients and their families, PBTs must always demonstrate high standards of professionalism as well as help to maintain safe working conditions including following standard safety precautions and procedures. They may also perform some clinical, technical or clerical functions.

In the ACC Continuing Education Workforce Development one-semester Phlebotomy Technician Program, you will learn the skills to assist health care teams in the accurate, safe and reliable collection and transportation of blood and other specimens for clinical testing.
