Veterinary Assistants help Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians care for animals. Veterinary Assistants need to enjoy working with animals and owners. The job requires lifting and holding animals, some office skills, clinical procedures, record keeping and more. The work setting may be in animal hospitals, clinics, and research labs. They may also be employed in animal shelters, and in some cases, pet stores. The program can be used as a stepping stone into the veterinary field.
