The practice of yoga entails both a personal journey and a step into a living tradition shared by millions the world over. Advanced studies in yoga allow trainees to deepen their own practice as well as learn how to effectively and safely share the tradition and benefits of yoga with others.
This course offers training in a wide range of techniques. Trainees will deepen their understanding of the principles and practices of Hatha yoga and the eight limbs of yoga described in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali over 2,000 years ago.
In addition to the well-known benefits of yoga such as helping the body develop and maintain optimal flexibility, strength and balance, students will learn practices that develop and integrate the body, mind and spirit into their yoga practice including meditation and deep relaxation.
Students will complete the program feeling confident in their ability to practice and lead others in these core practices of yoga.
Topics of study will include:
History and Philosophy
Principles, alignment theory and the anatomy of movement as they relate to teaching
Methods of teaching to create a complete yoga experience for students
Sequencing and how to design a yoga class
Courses will be held at Sundance Yoga Studios and on ACC's campus.
