Program Description
The Child Development/Early Childhood Program is committed to improve the quality of childcare and to prepare individuals for a career educating young children. The course materials are receptive to contemporary concerns and are designed to focus on the philosophy of developmentally appropriate practices and ethical application in childcare.
The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) curriculum is designed to provide the knowledge, skills and credentials needed to provide quality early education and care for young children. If you choose to further your career in the Early Childhood field, many courses will transfer to the university for a Bachelor of Applied Science in Interdisciplinary Studies degree.
The Child Development Certificate is designed to provide the basic knowledge and skills necessary for entry into the field of early education and care. If you choose to further your career the course work can be applied to the AAS degree.
The Childcare Administration Certificate is designed to provide the knowledge, skills and credentials required to become a director of a child care facility.
Career Opportunities
Child Development graduates have the opportunity to work as child care providers, registered childcare providers, child care directors, public school paraprofessionals, and other related child/youth careers.
