Because I do not currently have a passing score on the Reading , Writing, or Math portion(s) of the Texas Higher Education Assessment ,THEA (new name for TASP), I understand that I am required to participate in a program of continuous developmental education until successful completion of the prescribed developmental sequence.

1. I understand that I must complete the appropriate developmental course with minimum grade of "C" or the course must be repeated.

2. I understand that I may receive no more than 2 grades of "R" (retake) per developmental class.

3. I understand that participation* is mandatory from my registration date. Should I fall behind in class (one week in a long semester, 2 days in an eight-week mini-semester, 3 days in an 11-week summer semester) my instructor will notify my department chair. Subsequent non-participation may result in my being withdrawn from this class. Should this be my only developmental course this semester, I also understand that I may be withdrawn from all my other classes. The grade (s) will be "W" if withdrawn before the published withdrawal date and "F" thereafter.

4. I understand that if I fall behind schedule by 3 hours**, I will receive a Non-Participation Warning Letter from the Department Chair which will state that I must contact my instructor immediately. I understand that I will have 2 weeks to get back on schedule or I may be withdrawn from this class.

5. I understand that if I am withdrawn, I have five business days from the date of the withdrawal to appeal to the Dean of Students for re-entry into the course.

6. I understand that if I have not attained a passing score on theTHEA before another semester begins, I must register for a developmental course during the next semester of attendance until my developmental sequence is successfully completed.

7. I understand that achieving a passing grade in the course does not necessarily insure that I will pass THEA.

*Since internet classes do not check attendance, you will be judged on participation which means staying in contact with the instructor and completing assignments on schedule.

**Three hours is the equivalent of 1 week of classes in a long semester.
