What is FOCUS-2? FOCUS-2 is a self-paced career assessment tool for everyone. FOCUS-2 can help you decide on career goals and action plans by increasing your awareness of your talents, interests, values, personality and potential for success in certain careers.
To optimize your use of FOCUS-2 please be sure to:
1. "Combine Your Assessment Results” to narrow and refine your exploration of majors and career fields based on all your FOCUS assessment results
2. Save 2 majors and 5 or more occupations that appeal to you.
Remember that you can log back on to FOCUS-2 at any time to complete new sections or print out results. FOCUS-2 always saves your records so you can pickup where you left off earlier.

We offer a free online service in which students and graduates may view and apply for jobs and internships and view upcoming job fairs. In addition, employers can review and print resumes.
Career planning is a process that includes self-assessment, career exploration and information gathering. In targeting a specific goal, individuals can explore career preparation (training and/or gaining education), attainment of marketable skills and career management.
Individuals who need to decide or clarify a major, and individuals who need to identify new job possibilities, are highly encouraged to make use of this service.
The Career Planning Program is available and includes the following features.
- Completion of two online assessments (Myers-Brigss Type Indicator and the Strong Interest Inventory) you can do at home
- Completion of a workbook with exercises to assess values, interests, passions, transferable skills and personality
- Individual counseling session to go over results of testing and workbook
- Overview of all career resources in the Career Center

Alvin Community College hosts annual Healthcare Job Fairs. The participating organizations include many major healthcare facilities, hospitals and centers.
Alvin Community College offers workshops on job-search topics such as resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, and tapping the hidden job market. Students may schedule appointments to meet with a Career Counselor to review results from career assessments, critique resumes and obtain assistance with job search strategies. Referrals to community resources can be provided. Call 281.756.3531 to make an appointment.
We assist individuals in making the transition from college to career through a variety of resources.
Computer career planning software is located in the ACC Career and Transfer Center in Building A, Room A-134. There is no charge for these services.
- Choices is a career planning software program which includes an interest inventory, descriptions of occupations, labor market information, financial aid information and more. The Choices program is also available on the computers in the CyberLink Student Computer Lab in Building A, Room A-173, and in the Pearland Campus Library.
- TypeFocus is a computerized personality typing program that matches results to occupations.
- Career counseling is recommended after completion of assessments to develop an action plan.
