General Information
The Sonography Program at ACC offers a series of courses with many options for prospective students. ACC only offers cardiac and vascular ultrasound in our program.
1. Continuing Education: Non-credit, CEU
This option is mainly for Sonographers who need review courses or to prepare for the registry examination.
2. Advanced Technical Certificate: College Credit
This is an option for those who already have an Associate Degree in an Allied Health field from an accredited institution and would like to learn Cardiovascular Sonography.
3. Associate of Applied Science: College Credit
This option is for beginners with little or no healthcare experience and/or no prior degree or certificate that would like to learn Sonography. Anyone who desires a degree in this field may also apply for the A.A.S. option even if their degree is non-healthcare related, or in another specialty of healthcare.
Admission
Complete Prerequisites of College Algebra, Physics, English I, Anatomy and Physiology I with a grade of 'C' or better.
ACT of 19 or better and THEA or equivalent. Any student who wishes to take Diagnostic Cardiovascular Sonography courses must first apply to, and be accepted in, the program. Acceptance is competitive based on academic performance, prior education and experience. Students who are applying for the Continuing Education or Advanced Technical Certificate must have prior medical experience and education.

The cost of the program depends on which option the student applies for. Below are a breakdown of the tuition, fees, and additional charges/expenses for the AAS and ATC programs.

Program Schedule
A.A.S. Starts in the summer semester. It is two years and 70 credits. The classes and labs are during the day, some are in the evening, all clinicals are day shift.
A.T.C. Starts in the spring semester. It is one and a half years and 39 credits. The classes and labs are during the day, some are in the evening, all clinicals are day shift.
