A new class begins each fall semester.
Qualified applicants will be admitted according to
space available. To be considered for admission, applicant
must:
- Make application to ACC and to the
Respiratory Care Program.

- Submit official transcripts from
other colleges attended (both to the Respiratory
Care Department and ACC Admissions Office).
- Score a composite of 19 or higher
on the ACT or a combined math/verbal SAT score of
400.
- Complete BIOL 2401 and ENGL 1301
with a grade no lower than a “C”, prior
to admission.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the
responsibilities and duties of the profession through
observation and discussion with a practicing therapist
(contact the director for details)
- Submit two (2) completed Application
Recommendation Forms.
- Attend an information session.
- Not currently on suspension or academic
probation at ACC or another college or university.
- Complete physical examination including
immunizations and a successful criminal background
check upon acceptance.
- Current AHA CPR certification for
Health Care Providers
- Ability to perform the duties of
a Respiratory Care Practitioner according to the
attached Technical Standards.
- Successful completion of drug screen
is required.
- Must present proof the Hepatitis B Series has been started as follows:
-First shot should be taken by April 1
-Second shot should be taken by July 1
Students are responsible for their transportation to and from the clinical
facilities
Students will abide by the curriculum requirements of the Respiratory Care
Department at the time they are accepted in to the program
No grade below a "C" in a respiratory care or academic course will
be acceptable for progression
Students must complete the program within five years after initial acceptance
