Pharmacy Technician

Objective
The Pharmacy Technician Program at ACC is designed to meet the needs of individuals planning to take the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam. Our goal is to provide the highest quality of education and training so that the student will have a complete understanding of the following:

Pharmacy Technician Program Outline
The Pharmacy Technician Program at Alvin Community College offers a Level I Certificate Program consisting of 27 credit hours.  The program includes online classes, hybrid classes, classroom classes, hands on labs, and an internship (256 hours) at local community and institutional pharmacies.  We offer a flexible program that can be completed in 8 months (2 semesters) if attending full time or in 12 months (3 semesters) if attending part time.

  Pharmaceutical Mathematics I  3
  Drug Classification 2
  Community Pharmacy Practice 3
Semester II: Institutional Pharmacy Practice  3
  Pharmacy Drug Therapy and Treatment  4
  IV Admixture and Sterile Compounding 4
  Practicum:  Pharmacy Technician Assistant 2
  (256 hours or approximately 16 hours per week)  
  Total 27
