Polysomnography (Sleep Medicine) - A.A.S. Degree

Become a Sleep Technologist - Help Others Wake Up

to Better Health

Sleep is essential to life, yet millions of Americans struggle to get the rest they need. An estimated 50-70 million people in the U.S. experience chronic sleep disruptions - from insomnia and sleep apnea to narcolepsy and other disorders. These conditions are not only life-altering but often life-threatening.

As a Polysomnographic (PSG) Technologist, you'll be on the front lines of sleep medicine - playing a vital role in diagnosing and treating these conditions. Using advanced electronic monitoring equipment, you'll record and analyze data such as EEG (brain activity), eye and muscle movement, breathing patterns, and oxygen levels during sleep studies. You'll also assist in evaluating the effectiveness of therapies like CPAP and other interventions.

Alvin Community College is proud to be the first college in Texas to offer an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Polysomnographic Technology. Today, we remain one of only three colleges in the entire state with this accredited program.

At ACC, you'll learn from experienced, credentialed instructors and receive hands-on training that prepares you to enter one of the fastest-growing and most rewarding fields in allied health. Whether you're helping a patient finally sleep through the night or identifying a life-threatening disorder, your work will truly make a difference.
