Career Assessment Tools

Career counselors are trained to administer and interpret career assessment tests that can help you decide on a career. Your career needs to fit your personal interests, values, abilities and personality. The following assessment tools are a great place to start.

Choices is a career planning software program. Choices has three assessments that include: interest profiles (in English and Spanish), skills checklist and workplace locator. In addition, Choices can help you sort through vast amounts of important information about occupations, colleges, degree and certificate programs, and financial aid sources.

The Choices program is installed on computers in three locations, including the Academic Advising Office, CyberLink Computer Lab (Building A, Room 173), and the Pearland Center Library. There is no charge to students for this service.

TypeFocus is a personality type program that automatically incorporates results into three personalized reports. These reports offer insight into self-awareness that promotes wise decisions about important occupational topics, such as:

• What career choices fit with my personality?
• How can I improve my chances for getting a job?
• How can I get along with people better?
• What are my learning style strengths?

To gain access to TypeFocus, stop by the Academic Advising Office. There is no charge to students for this service.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is a personality typing assessment and is available to students and non-students who participate in the Career Planning Program.

Strong Interest Inventory is used to help you understand work interests and to show you types of work where you may be comfortable. This assessment is available to students and non-students who participate in the Career Planning Program.
