Career Planning Program
Career Planning is a process that includes self-assessment, career exploration and information gathering. Once you go through the process, youll discover several possible careers. The next step is to look at any necessary training or education, how to attain marketable skills, and career management.
Career planning will help you choose a college major or identify new job possibilities.
Alvin Community College offers a comprehensive Career Planning Program. The program helps define and explore career options that are compatible with your personal goals, abilities and interests. The program may consist of two 2-hour sessions or a half-day workshop. Counselors will provide feedback throughout the career planning process.
The Career Planning Program consists of the following:
A four-hour group seminar
Completion of two online assessments and workbook prior to the meeting
Exercises to assess values, interests, passions, transferable skills
and personality type
Development of career goals and an action plan
Overview of all career resources in Career Center
Individual counseling session
The Career Planning Program is offered during the Fall and Spring semesters.
