Career Workshops

Alvin Community College offers workshops on job-search topics such as resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, and tapping the hidden job market. To register, call 281.756.3531 or stop by the Academic Advising Office.

Career Assessment Tools

Career counselors are trained to administer and interpret career assessment tests that can help you decide on a career. Your career needs to fit your personal interests, values, abilities and personality. The Career Assessment Tools are a great place to start.

Career Planning Program

The Career Planning & Job Placement Center offers a comprehensive Career Planning Program. The program helps define and explore career options that are compatible with your personal goals, abilities and interests. The program may consist of two 2-hour sessions or a half-day workshop. Counselors will provide feedback throughout the career planning process.

Career Center

The Career Center assists students in locating employment either full-time after graduating or part-time while attending college. We offer comprehensive resources on resume writing, interviewing skills, job leads, and more. You will also find:

• Vocational biographies & descriptions
• Job search information
• College catalogs and transfer information
• Computers with resume writing software
• Easy access to labor market information
• Job-readiness training videos

Individual Counseling

Students may schedule appointments to meet with a Career Counselor to review results from career assessments, critique resumes and obtain assistance with job search strategies. The counselor can also provide referrals to community resources. Call 281.756.3531 to make an appointment.
