Program Description
The Certification in Basic Law Enforcement is a series of courses designed to
prepare students for a career in Texas law enforcement. ACC offers a diverse
training staff including police officers, administrators, judges, lawyers and
college professors. They work to prepare students for the Texas Commission on
Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education Exam (TCLEOSE) the state
licensing exam. Realism and hands-on training are key elements of the ACC training
program.
Career Opportunities
When successful graduates become certified by passing the TCLEOSE, they are
eligible for employment in any law enforcement agency in the state of Texas.
Options
Day Academy
The Day Academy is a 16 week certificate program offered and completed during
either the fall or spring semester. Classes meet from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Monday thru Friday and an occasional Saturday.
Night Academy
The Night Academy is a two semester certificate program that begins in August
and ends in May. Classes meet from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday and
occasionally during the day on Saturdays.

Admission Requirements
High School Diploma or GED with 12 college hours (prior to enrollment).
Provide proof of graduation and transcript.
Score at least 35 on reading and vocabulary assessment test or fall within
an exception.
Be fingerprinted and supply information for a criminal history and drivers
license check.
Must have no family violence convictions.
Students age 18 19 years must have 38 college hours or 2 years
active military service.
Program Requirements
A passing grade of 70 must be attained in each subject while in the academy.
Grades below 70 are grounds for dismissal.
Absences reaching 40 hours or more are grounds for dismissal. Other requirements
apply. Tuition and fees are due at the time of academy registration.
Tuition covers instruction. Special fees cover criminal history check,
ammunition, range fees, shoulder patches and cost of the driving course.
