Program Description
If youre thinking of getting certified to work in Information Technology
(IT), theres virtually no better place to prepare than at ACC where we
leverage your learning with the Microsoft IT Academy Program. The Computer Science
Networking program prepares students for careers in many areas of LAN/WAN administration
and design. The 65 credit A.A.S. program is designed to include the Microsoft
Certified System Administrator (MCSA) and/or Microsoft Certified System Engineer
(MCSE) sequence. Program graduates will be better prepared for both of these
industry leading certification examinations as well as the more basic CompTIA
Network+ and Security+ vender neutral certification.
Career Opportunities
ACC is a valued member of the Microsoft IT Academy program and thus holds a
leveraged position for success in a variety of career opportunities (e.g. installing,
managing and maintaining Microsoft servers and networks worldwide). Currently
in the U.S., the demand for skilled Information Technology (IT) workers has
never been greater. According to the Texas Workforce Commission Employment Projections
from 2000-2010, the five fastest-growing occupations in Texas are all computer
related, with employment numbers expected to grow up to 76.8%. The average starting
salary for a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP someone who has passed
at least one of Microsofts Certification exams) is $49,900 according to
Microsoft Certified Professional magazine.
