ACC Students Present Video Project at NACCE Convention
As artificial intelligence begins to gain a foothold in the workforce and in creative endeavors, a group of Alvin Community College students were recently honored for a video on the topic at the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship.
ACC students Areli Barajas, Karissa Schneider, Karla Jay and Yahayra Amaya placed second for their video Robo Squad that was selected from 74 entries submitted for the convention.
“The students were tasked with creating a video, no longer than two minutes, that explores how technology and human potential will shape the future,” said Tonya Jefferson, ACC Business Management instructor. “They had creative freedom to produce whatever they desired, with the major requirement being the incorporation of AI into their projects.”
The video was presented as part of NACCE’s SolveCC initiative which seeks to integrate AI with applications in the workforce. The ACC student team had to follow the guidelines for the project including the seamless integration of AI into their project.
“This assignment proved challenging for many students because they were used to following strict guidelines and directives,” Jefferson said. “As a result, they had to sharpen their critical thinking skills, a necessity emphasized by our industry partners to ensure our students are workplace ready.”
