ACC Announces 21-22 Drama Season

A group of adults acting like children, a Texas Christmas tale and the story of a country music legend are in the lineup  for the Alvin Community College Drama Department’s 2021-22 season. Performances will return to the stage for the first time in 18 months.

The season will kick off with God of Carnage,  which will run from October 2-9. A Tuna Christmas will run from December 4-11. The spring musical Always… Patsy Cline will be performed March 5-12.

The productions for the Summer Children’s Theatre Festival will be The Adventure of Peter Cottontail and Alice in Wonderland on June 20-23 and July 25-28, respectively.

God of Carnage is a play about two sets of Brooklyn parents who face a situation that grows in intensity after an incident between their children on a playground.

Performances on October 2 and 7-9 will be at 7:30 p.m. There will be a 2:30 p.m. performance on October 3.

The holiday play, A Tuna Christmas, is about town called Tuna, Texas, where two radio personalities chronicle the holiday activities in the eccentric town including a contentious lawn-display contest and a Christmas performance jeopardized by unpaid electric bills.

Performances on December 4 and 9-11 will be at 7:30 p.m. There will be a 2:30 p.m. performance on December 5. Auditions will be on October 5 at 7 p.m. in the Theatre.

The Spring musical Always… Patsy Cline will be about the life and music of the legendary singer. The musical is based on the true story of a friendship between Cline and a fan from Houston.

Performances on March 5 and 10-12 will be at 7:30 p.m. There will be a 2:30 p.m. performance on March 6. Auditions will be on January 18-19 at 7 p.m. in the Theatre.

Performances for The Adventures of Peter Cottontail will be at 10 a.m. on June 20-23 with a 7:30 p.m. performance on June 23. Alice in Wonderland will be performed July 25-28 at 10 a.m. and a 7:30 p.m. performance on July 28. Auditions for the two plays will be on May 10-11.
