ACC Regents Approve Furniture Purchase
Alvin Community College regents unanimously approved the purchase of furniture for the recently renovated Student Center during the board meeting on March 24.
The purchase of $148,715 with the Gateway office supply firm will be funded by Student Activity and General Service fees.
Renovations at the Student Center were recently completed as part of the Maintenance Note project approved by regents in 2018.
In other action, former ACC Board Chair Mike Pyburn took the oath of office to return to the board as a regent. Pyburn will finish the remaining term of former regent Andy Tacquard who resigned from the Position 8 seat in February. The seat is up for vote in the May 7 elections. Yvette Reyes-Hall is running unopposed. She will serve a six-year term.
Regents also unanimously approved a new property/casualty insurance contract with Gallegher Victory Insurance. The contract includes a $649,540 premium that will cover up to $25 million in property loss.
Regents also:
-approved membership in local purchasing cooperative
-approved contract for auditor
-approved changes to various program fees
-approved monthly financial reports
The board will have its next meeting on Thursday, April 28 at 6 p.m. in the Nolan Ryan Center.
