ACC Students Warned of Drunk/Distracted Driving Dangers

Alvin Community College students learned about the effects of drunk and distracted driving drunk during an awareness event on November 8.

The event provided students with food and activities that included a driving simulator and informational booths from the Bay Area Council on Drugs and Alcohol, Crime Stoppers as well as the ACC Police Department.

Students drove a simulator, operated by the nonprofit group UNITE and its Arrive Alive Tour, that demonstrated how intoxication can limit a person’s ability to drive on the highway. It also simulated the effects of texting while driving.

The simulator allows participants to experience the real-life dangers without the real life consequences.
