ACC Launches First Step Scholarship Award

Alvin Community College Foundation is now offering a scholarship to those who want to start their college education.

The Foundation recently launched the First Step program which is a $500 scholarship for students who are taking college courses for the first time ever.

The funds will be available to students enrolling for the Fall 2023 16-week semester, the first Fall 8-week semester and the Fall four-week semester A.

“This program is why the ACC Foundation works so hard to raise funds,” said Chad Dudley, ACC Foundation president. “We work for the students to help them earn a college education and a better future.”

Students who have already enrolled or who plan to enroll for the eligible semesters can apply for the scholarship. To be eligible, applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and cannot have taken a college class before at any institution.

Students enrolled in Dual Enrollment courses, Continuing Education Workforce Development courses and through TDCJ are not eligible to apply.

Deadline to apply for the scholarship will be Monday, August 21 at 7 p.m.
