ACC Foundation to Host Virtual Gala
The Alvin Community College Foundation will help students achieve their dreams with the 21st Annual Gala starting on November 9.
This year’s gala, Granting Wishes, will be held virtually from November 9 through January 15 to allow donors to make contributions that will benefit ACC student scholarships, Innovative Grants and campus programs.
“While we cannot have our annual gala in person, the needs of our students are still pressing,” said Shirley Brothers, Foundation president. “With our virtual format this year, our generous donors have plenty of time to make wishes come true and change lives.”
The ACC Foundation is a private, 501 c(3) non-profit organization started in 1974 to help support the mission of the college. The Foundation has helped thousands of students with scholarships made possible through generous donations from individuals, families, and businesses.
In addition to scholarships, the Foundation also uses its funds to support the Innovative Initiative grants and other programs on campus. This year, the Foundation awarded over $198,000 in student scholarships, grants and awards to ACC staff members.
There are several support levels during the virtual gala: A Whole New World at $10,000; Genie of Generosity at $7,500; Golden Lamp at $5,000; Magic Carpet at $2,500; Cave of Wonders at $1,500; Forbidden Treasure at $1,000; Sultan at $500; Jasmine at $250 and Aladdin at $100.
The virtual gala will also include Adopt-A-Wish grants that will support programs or designated funds for Industrial & Workforce training; Tuition Promise Program for AISD Grads; Upward Bound College Prep Program for AHS Students; 2nd Chance Scholarships for TDCJ Students; Dual Enrollment Scholarships; Emergency Fund for Students in Need as well Innovative Grants for Faculty and Staff and Honors Program Scholarships.
“With this format, there are a variety of ways in which our donors can provide much-needed assistance to our students and our programs,” said Wendy Del Bello, Foundation executive director.
The site will launch on November 9 to start the Granting Wishes Gala. Donors can visit the site for videos, student stories and to make donations. The gala will be hosted at http://bidpal.net/accfoundation.
