ACC Drama Auditions for 37th Summer Children's Theatre

The Alvin Community College Drama Department will soon host auditions for its upcoming Summer Children’s Theatre Festival.

This is the 37th Festival and the productions will be Adventures of Peter Cottontail and Alice in Wonderland.

“We look for shows that will appeal to our audiences,” said Dr. Jay Burton, Drama chair. “We try to make it really appealing for everybody.”

Performances of Peter Cottontail will be June 20-23 at 10 a.m. with a 7:30 p.m. performance on June 23. Performances of Alice in Wonderland will be July 25-28 at 10 a.m. with a 7:30 p.m. performance on July 28.

Students ages 6-17 are encouraged to audition for both shows. There are roles on stage available as well as crew positions backstage to help with props, set design and more.

“What I would like students to get out of the experience is learning about teamwork, learning about creativity, building self confidence and building imagination,” Burton said. “Working with young people is always a treat. They always come up with something new and different and wonderful.”

Audition dates are May 10-11 starting at 6:30 p.m. Students can come to either audition and roles for both productions.

The time commitment during rehearsals will be Monday through Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the ACC Theatre.
