Explore the World of Engineering Drafting and Design

The Drafting & Design Engineering Technology program implements a variety of disciplines and software that allows students to express their personal skills and ability levels to provide the student the opportunity to succeed. Students compile portfolios of their drawings to present to employers, and they can complete an internship for real-world experience. The innovative classroom environment is equipped with some of the latest computers, software, 3D printers and design equipment. Students will have hands-on experiences with developmentally appropriate activities that allow them to exercise creative design skills.

Annual salaries can be as high as $119,000 and as low as $31,000, the majority of Drafting Engineer salaries currently range between $39,000 (25th percentile) to $53,000 (75th percentile) with top earners (90th percentile) making $62,000 annually across the United States. ACC Drafting and Design Engineering Technology graduates have close to 100% job placement rate. Many students find employment prior to graduation. 

What Will I Study?

The ACC Drafting & Design Engineering Technology program provides extensive hands-on training. Courses within the program include basic principles of engineering drafting and design in piping, mechanical, architectural, civil and structural design. This well-rounded education provides students with many opportunities and the necessary qualifications as entry level designers. Completing training in design and drafting could teach you to produce the plans, guidelines and diagrams used for CAD across many industries.

Approximate costs including tuition and fees for the A.A.S. Degree program are $4,200 for in-district students, $6,960 for those out-of-district, and $9,840 for non-residents.

Yearly costs including tuition and fees for the Certificate II program are approximately $2,200 for in-district students, $3,600 for those out-of-district, and $5,000 for nonresidents.

Approximate costs including tuition and fees for the Certificate I program are $1,200 for in-district students, $1,900 for those out-of-district, and $2,600 for non-residents.
