Prior Learning Assessment (PLA)

Alvin Community College recognizes the benefits of Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) in helping students reach their goals in a more efficient way. Additionally, the College is cognizant of the diverse ways in which students obtain knowledge and skills outside of the traditional classroom setting. The primary goal of PLA is to evaluate a student's knowledge and skill-set to be awarded college credit through alternative pathways such as national and local examinations, industry certifications and work experience, military training, articulation agreements and non-credit mirror course conversion.

PLA Requirements for Drafting & Design Engineering 1309 Course  

Any applicant requesting PLA credit for Business Management level courses must fully meet the following requirement: 

1. Autodesk AutoCAD Certified User

Should an applicant successfully fulfill the above requirements, PLA credit shall be awarded for the following:

DFTG 1309	Basic Computer-Aided Drafting	3
	TOTAL CREDIT HOUR	3

PLA Requirements for Drafting & Design Engineering 2319 Course

Any applicant requesting PLA credit for Business Management level courses must fully meet the following requirement: 

1. Autodesk AutoCAD Certified Professional

Should an applicant successfully fulfill the above requirements, PLA credit shall be awarded for the following:

	TOTAL CREDIT HOUR	3

PLA Requirements for Drafting & Design Engineering 1345 Course

Any applicant requesting PLA credit for Business Management level courses must fully meet the following requirement: 

1. Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate (CSWA)

Should an applicant successfully fulfill the above requirements, PLA credit shall be awarded for the following:
