American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers
According to the American Heart Association, “about 92% of sudden cardiac arrest victims die before reaching the hospital, but statistics prove that if more people knew CPR, more lives could be saved. Immediate CPR can double, and even triple, a victim’s chance of survival.” Also according to the American Heart Association, “Choking is the No. 1 cause of unintentional death in infants.”
In addition to the personal benefits that can come from knowing CPR, many health care and education training programs, as well as companies and organizations, require students and employees to be certified in Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers. CPR protocol recently dramatically changed from the previous “ABCs” of CPR.
Through the ACC Continuing Education CPR Program, you can learn to give “the breath of life” in one of our one-day training courses. This class, which meets the American Heart Association requirements for CPR programs, provides the prospective or actual health care professional with the knowledge and skills needed to perform CPR with the use of an automated external defibrillator and bag mask for infant, child and adult patients.
The following ACC CEWD Health Care Programs require this class:
