How to Apply
DCVS Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) Program
Program Begins:
Every June During the First Summer Semester
DCVS Advanced Technical Certificate (ATC) Program
Program Begins:
Every January During the Spring Semester
What You Need To Apply
Information Session
Attending an information session is required to apply to the DCVS program. Please watch the DCVS Information Session Video and complete the quiz at the end using this Answer Sheet. Submit answer sheet with application.
Requirements
Admission requirements for A.A.S. Degree include these pre-requisite courses with
a grade of C or better in each pre-requisite:
- English I
- Anatomy and Physiology I
- Anatomy and Physiology II (DSAE 2303 may be taken to renew expired A&P credits)
- College Algebra
- College Physics or Elementary Physics
Additional Requirements to Apply
- Apply to ACC by completing the Steps-to-Getting-Started
- Submit official college transcripts to Admissions showing completion of required courses
- Apply to the DCVS program by completing an application packet
- Complete the required number of hours of professional observation here at ACC in the DCVS lab *This requirement has been waived for the upcoming 2021 application period
- Take the HESI A2 exam
- Submit record of first two vaccinations completed in Hepatitis B series
- Submit two professional letters of reference
Selection for Admission
Admission to the DCVS Program is competitive. Applicants are ranked by the following criteria:
- Final grades in prerequisite classes
- HESI A2 cumulative score
- HESI A2 reading comprehension score
Additional consideration will be given to applicants who:
- Are an ACC student for more than one semester
- Have health care experience
- Hold a degree
- Are a veteran
- Were on the alternate list in the prior application period and are reapplying
Deductions will be given for:
- F's and withdrawals in prerequisite classes
- No show to a scheduled observation
