Diagnostic Cardiovascular Sonography (DCVS)
Immunization Requirements
To enter and continue in the DCVS program, the following immunizations and tests are required by clinical affiliates and recommended by the Center for Disease Control (CDC):
Prior to Application
Hepatitis B:
Proof of completed hepatitis B vaccination series is required for acceptance to the
program. This is a series of 3 shots and can take up to 6 months to complete. Accelerated
series are also accepted. Submit proof with application.
After Acceptance
Hepatitis B Titer:
Hepatitis B surface antibody test (titer) is required in addition to the completed
Hepatitis B vaccination series after acceptance to the program and prior to the first
day of clinical.
Varicella (Chicken pox):
Vaccination series with two doses of varicella administered at least 28 days apart.
-or-
Serologic titer test positive for varicella antibody.
MMR – (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
Vaccination series with two doses of MMR administered at least 28 days apart.
-or-
Serologic titer test positive for immunity to measles, mumps, rubella.
TDaP (Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis)
One dose within the last 10 years and after the age of 18.
Seasonal Flu
Flu vaccine required annually.
Additional Requirements
Upon acceptance students will also be required to have the following:
- Physical Exam, documentation of adequate hearing, vision and color vision
- Tuberculosis Screen: Negative PPD, QuantiFERON®, or T-spot required annually. Positive results or history of positive TB screen will require chest x-ray showing no evidence of active lung disease.
- Criminal background check
- Drug screen
